Description
The Alte Zeit Gruppe [AZG] 'The Historical German Railway Group' was formed in 1992 to create a focal point for railway enthusiasts and modellers with a particular interest in the Railways of Germany and the the other German-speaking areas of Europe, predominantly in the steam era. Our core period is 1835-1970, however we do give extensive coverage to electric and diesel traction as well as Steam. Some articles extend beyond 1970 for completeness. The group runs the most comprehensive website for German Railways in the English Language and a quarterly English language electronic journal 'Zeitung', this is now in A4 format and contains both black/white and colour photographs. Recent articles have included 'The Bavarian Pacific's Class 3/6', 'Level Crossings', 'German Railways in 1914', 'Railways in Cologne', plus items on modelling. Group products that available include books ranging from an Introduction to German railways, Goods wagons 1888-1945, plus a detailed one on signals and others items.
