The Bellefonte Historical Railroad Society is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting, preserving, and fostering a public appreciation of the railroading heritage of Bellefonte, Pennsylvania and beyond. BHRS hosts excursion trips over the Nittany and Bald Eagle RR one weekend in October and December each year. The BHRS also owns two BUDD Rail Diesel cars (RDCs), and a wooden caboose and a snow plow both of Bellefonte Central RR heritage. Our two RDCs, 9167 and 9153, were built in 1953 and 1962 for the New Haven and Reading railroads, respectively. They are currently out of service pending mechanical repairs. The caboose and snow plow are currently under restoration and we are working to raise funds for that purpose. These are on permanent static display next to the historic Bellefonte Train station, located at a park in downtown Bellefonte. The station sits on an active branch of the Nittany and Bald Eagle Railroad and was built for the PRR in 1889.
On I-80 take exit 161 and continue on I-99 South to exit 78 (Bellefonte). When you come into Bellefonte, cross the railroad tracks and continue for about 1/3 of a mile to a traffic light at High Street. Turn left into W. High St. cross the bridge and you will see the train station on your left.
