The big show will be in the main exhibit building at the National Peanut Festival Fairgrounds, 5622 US Hwy 231, three miles south of Dothan.
Show hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CDT Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. CDT Sunday. Admission is $5 for adults and free for children under age 12 with an adult.
The show is one of the largest model railroading events in the Southeast each year and model railroading equipment vendors and enthusiasts from throughout the region are expected to attend the show.
This year’s show will feature more than 100 vendor tables packed with all sorts of model railroad equipment and supplies. Several large model railroad layouts will be running and concessions will be available both days Door prizes also will be awarded both days.
Weather permitting, an outdoor train ride for children will be in operation Saturday and Sunday for a small additional charge.
“Our show is one of the largest and best-known model railroad shows in our entire region, and many people look forward to coming to the show every year. We expect this show to be our best yet,” said Danny Lewis, president of the Wiregrass Steel Wheels model railroad club
“Many of our vendors also tell us that they always look forward to our show because it is one of the best shows they attend each year,” Lewis said.
“There’s almost nowhere else you could go to see so many different kinds of trains and model railroading supplies in one place. The show will be in a 25,000 square-foot building that will be packed with model trains and plenty of supplies to use with them,” Lewis said.
“We are really looking forward to a great train show this year,” Lewis added. “We try to make each show better than previous shows and we always try to make them family friendly and enjoyable for everyone.”
