Description
Learn the time-honored skills of a railroad passenger brakeman hands-on under actual operating conditions at the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum Association's extensive Living-History & Train Operation Center, Campo, Calif. (San Diego County). Graduates will be certified as volunteer train brakemen on museum's 14-mile mountain railroad -- the common-carrier San Diego & Arizona Eastern Railway. Qualification leads to entry into locomotive engineer training program. Training consists of classroom sessions plus two days of dynamic hands-on training with a real passenger train. Covers industry standard procedures, protocols, safety, and Federal rules and regulations.
